Key Concepts: Density is mass per unit volume: $\rho = m/V$.

Section A: Calculations

1. A block has mass 3.6 kg and volume $0.004\,m^3$. Calculate density. [2]
2. A liquid has density $800\,kg/m^3$ and volume $0.002\,m^3$. Calculate mass. [2]

3. Describe a method to find the density of an irregular solid. [3]

Mark Scheme

1. $\rho = 3.6/0.004 = 900\,kg/m^3$ [2]
2. $m = \rho V = 800 \times 0.002 = 1.6\,kg$ [2]
3. Measure mass; use displacement to find volume; density = mass/volume [3]
